Surf Lagoon Completion Marks Progress in Virginia Beach Development

Beach Street, the company operating the surf park, said the lagoon will feature more than 20 wave types ranging in height from one to seven feet. The company stated that these wave profiles will cater to all skill levels, from beginners to expert surfers which will attract a wide variety of users.

“Centrally located and integrated within an urban environment adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean, Atlantic Park is unlike any other surf park in the world,” said Blake Hess, COO of Beach Street.

First Wavegarden Cove in the U.S.

Fernando Odriozola, Wavegarden’s Chief Commercial Officer and Co-Founder, is proud to make the company’s mark in America.

“Atlantic Park in Virginia Beach is super important to us, as it’s the first Wavegarden Cove in the U.S.”

He also noted the project’s potential to “transform the entire community landscape,” as surf parks tend to enhance area businesses, upgrade lifestyle options, and boost tourism.

Wavegarden is overseeing the wet commissioning and wave programming phase, which includes calibrating the 46-module Cove.
