Atlantic Park Surf has been ahead of the curve when it comes to commercial partnerships in the surf park world. Earlier this year, the Virginia Beach wave pool signed on with Yeti and just this week announced that Kona Big Wave is its official beer sponsor. The deal will include year-round events and the usual activations.
The agreement expands Kona Big Wave’s involvement in surfing and board sports partnerships. Last month, the brand sponsored Stab High Virginia Beach, which was held at Atlantic Park Surf and featured 56 professional surfers and nearly 3,500 spectators over two days. Kona was also instrumental in the Stab EAST event at Palm Springs Surf Club.
“Kona Big Wave’s ‘aloha spirit’ reflects the atmosphere of community, connection and culture we’re building at Atlantic Park Surf,” said Blake Hess, COO of Beach Street, the lagoon’s operator. “Together, we’re excited to create meaningful moments for our visitors and continue to elevate East Coast surfing.”
Atlantic Park Surf opened in August of 2025 and has hosted surfers from all 50 U.S. states and more than 30 countries, according to the company.

“Surf, skate and music are in Kona Big Wave’s DNA–and there’s no better partner than Atlantic Park Surf to bring that spirit to life for the Virginia Beach community,” said Chris Jones, VP of Marketing for Premium Brands at Anheuser-Busch. “As the official beer sponsor, we’re proud to support a destination that advances surf culture, fosters community and creates memorable experiences both in and out of the water.”
Hess said the partnership will support future activity at the venue.
“Atlantic Park Surf has already shown what’s possible for the future of surfing,” said Hess. “With partners like Kona Big Wave, we are eager to continue to advance the sport and bring our Virginia Beach community together.”
The sponsorship is part of Kona Big Wave‘s broader involvement in surfing, which includes partnerships, events and a roster of surf and skate ambassadors.
