After so much delay, bizarre circumstances and just plain bad luck, Florida is coming back strong with surf park projects this year. In 2025 we’ve already seen The Point break ground in Felsmere another just announces plans for Panama City.
In a sizzle edit with fresh Wavegarden Cove stock footage, a new South Florida wave pool hit the internet recently. The Boca Raton wave pool says they plan to deliver surf and related activities to wave-starved South Florida.
Boca Raton sits nearly 50 miles north of Miami and is considered part of the Miami metropolitan area. The exact location of the wave pool isn’t announced, but developers said that a location has been identified, and that they are advancing through the appropriate channels with city officials and partners.
Project representatives stated that the location was selected based on regional growth, accessibility, and potential long-term value. Discussions with municipal officials and partners are ongoing, and a formal project timeline will be released following completion of the required entitlements and approvals.

The project also pointed out several key steps they plan to take to be good neighbors.
Water Use
The project will feature a Wavegarden-engineered closed-circuit surf lagoon that will use between 25,000 and 50,000 cubic meters of water. The company said the water will be treated and recycled with minimal loss through evaporation. According to project representatives, the lagoon can operate using rainwater or greywater, reducing the need for municipal supply.
Noise Mitigation
Developers point out on the website that wave-generation technology to be installed at the site is expected to produce between 45 and 50 decibels at the source – roughly equivalent to ambient noise from an electric vehicle. Site design will also include enclosed mechanical systems and landscape buffers to limit noise transmission.
Developers said the park’s location may also serve as a sound barrier between the nearby I-95 corridor and adjacent neighborhoods, where traffic noise often exceeds 70 decibels.
Design and Lighting
The facility will incorporate native landscaping and low-rise structures, according to the company. Lighting systems are expected to focus illumination on the lagoon, with boundary light levels kept under 10 lux. The company said spillover will dissipate outside the park perimeter and comply with applicable regulations.
Community and Investment
Boca Surf Park said they are working with city officials and stakeholders. Public access and recreational amenities are expected to be included in the final design.
The project is backed by a private investor group. Investment inquiries are being accepted on a limited basis. Further project updates will be issued following the entitlement process. Those seeking updates can register for updates on the company’s website.
