DSRT Surf Palm Desert Opening Date Set for Early Summer 2026

DSRT Surf will open to the public in early summer 2026. Developers confirmed the opening date will fit as part of the project’s first development phase. The residential and resort infrastructure will be in place and fully completed by the second phase.

The Wavegarden Cove wave pool design will be the central feature here with capacity for 70 surfers at a time and up to 1,200 individual surf sessions per day according to promotional materials.

Amenities Include Hotel, Villas, and Sports Facilities

The development sits on a 17.8-acre site next to the Desert Willow Golf Courses. DSRT Surf will also feature a leisure pool, pickleball courts, and access to the Firecliff and Mountain View golf courses. The resort includes a 139-key hotel and 57 private luxury villas. More than 2,000 hotel rooms sit within walking distance, and nearby university campuses will help supply both visitors and workers.

Project Aims for 1,000 Daily Visitors

DSRT Surf is approximately 20 minutes from Palm Springs International Airport and within two hours of Southern California’s major population centers. Developers expect the resort to attract both experienced and aspiring surfers from a regional base of more than one million, as well as from the Coachella Valley’s hotels, universities, and broader U.S. and international markets. As interest in surfing grows globally—now a $130 billion industry with 23 million participants—DSRT Surf aims to address wave scarcity by offering consistent, controlled conditions year-round.

Sustainability Features of the Design

To address water usage, developers plan to convert 20 acres of adjacent golf turf into drought-tolerant landscaping. According to the company, this change will reduce annual water consumption at the golf course by more than the surf lagoon’s total yearly use. As a result, the lagoon is expected to operate as a net-zero water user. Additionally, the initiative aligns with wider regional water conservation efforts.

DSRT Surf Palm Desert Opening Date Will Help Meet Rising Surf Demand

Beach Street is the developer and operator behind DSRT Surf. The company is developing a new category of barefoot lifestyle destinations. These projects are all anchored by wave pools. Beach Street cites three main drivers of this market: advancements in wave-generating technology and changing vacation trends. The third is a growing interest in surf-based recreation.
