First Look: South Korea’s massive wave pool
The Kelly of South Korea, Sungyong Ko just dropped a clip of the world’s largest Wavegarden Cove in South Korea. The new wave pool is part of the Siheung Surf Park component of the massive Turtle Island development an hour south of Seoul. The overall development cost is half a billion Euros and will include a hotel, convention center, marina, and Ferris wheel. Siheung, long-known as an industrial manufacturing hub, is looking to transform itself into a tourism and leisure epicenter. When completed, the project anticipates two million visitors per year. The surfer who aired the video on social media, Sungyong Ko, is one of Korea’s most famous surfers. He surfed on the WSL QS with a best-ever finish at the Murasaki Quiksilver Jeju Open in 2012.
