Flowstate Now Available to Guests at Lost Shore Surf Resort

Flowstate announced its official launch at Lost Shore Surf Resort, Europe’s largest inland surfing destination. This partnership marks a major milestone for both companies and for the evolution of surfing in Scotland.

The technology allows surfers at the Edinburgh wave pool to receive high-resolution videos and images of their sessions moments after leaving the water. Flowstate’s system uses automated cameras positioned around the surf park to document each ride without the need for user activation.

Surfing Technology in a Controlled Environment

Flowstate stated that its system offers more than passive media capture. Features include session replays, integrated coaching tools, and real-time access through a personalized profile. These additions are intended to support performance tracking and skill improvement.

“We’re surfing perfect waves in the depths of an old rock quarry in Edinburgh, Scotland! If you don’t have proof of that, did it even happen?” said Luke Wallace, Founder, Flowstate “The Flowstate team is super excited to be working with Andy, Lee, and the entire Lost Shore crew to help amplify this amazing experience for surfers across Scotland and the EU region.”

Luke added that their camera system at Lost Shore is designed for all surfers who visit the Edinburgh wave pool.

“From hardened ice-core locals to newcomers eager to try something new, we’re proud to partner with Lost Shore and deliver a world-class offering — spanning automated video capture, coaching, competitions, and self-progression. Flowstate enables people to surf better, faster, and make the most of their Lost Shore experience,”

While most users will keep their clips for social shares, more and more surfers are using the Flowstate system to improve their technique.

Features of the Flowstate Camera Platform

The automated system at Lost Shore includes the following:

  • Automated Wave Capture: Every wave a surfer rides is recorded and sent to their mobile device shortly after the session ends.
  • Coaching Tools: The platform integrates video analysis tools designed to help surfers identify areas for improvement between sessions.
  • Instant Replay: Videos are made available within minutes, allowing surfers to review waves while still on site.
  • Event Capture: Surf competitions at Lost Shore can use Flowstate’s tools for wave tracking and automatic ranking.

The deployment of cameras at Lost Shore Surf Resort aligns with broader efforts to combine sport and technology. While Lost Shore is known for its surfable Wavegarden Cove technology, management noted that tools like Flowstate serve a growing demand for surf data and on-demand visual feedback.

User Experience and Feedback

Andy Hadden, Founder of Lost Shore Surf Resort, emphasized the impact of the Flowstate system on both user enjoyment and performance.

“Innovation in this sector is absolutely flying and whilst Wavegarden technology is the main event, and Flowstate is an incredibly impressive bolt-on for any developer wishing to make additional revenue by giving their customers access to a truly special piece of simple-to-use video playback technology,” said Andy. “It’s the second time in a decade I’ve seen something that as a surfer I thought was 100 years in the future, but it’s happening right now!”

Andy continued, saying he’s enjoying the system just a few weeks into its deployment.

“I’ve already racked up hours of watching myself surfing (poorly!) and with the coaching tips from our team, paired with Flowstate tech, my surfing is improving at an incredible rate in the weeks I’ve been using it. Great fun!”

Impact on Surf Competitions and Community Development

Flowstate’s tools have been designed to support club-level competitions, enabling organizers to automate video capture, timing, and ranking without manual oversight. The company claims the software reduces operational overhead for surf events and provides participants with immediate access to competition footage.

The camera system at Lost Shore is part of a broader digital strategy to position the resort as a year-round surfing hub. Lost Shore, located outside Edinburgh in a former quarry, serves as one of Europe’s largest inland surf destinations and seeks to attract both experienced surfers and first-time visitors.

Along with the Edinburgh wave pool, the Flowstate AI video system is now available at several surf parks around the globe. URBNSURF Melbourne & Sydney, Waco Surf, Fireside Surf, The Wave, Palm Springs Surf Club, Revel Surf, Surf Abu Dhabi and o2SurftownMUC all use the system.
