Surf park operations is a marathon not a sprint. Nate Stevens started at OG wave pool NLand in Austin, overseeing retail. He first learned about the Atlantic Park Surf project in 2017 while it was still in the early planning stages and followed its development for several years before finally working his way onto the team. Today, as general manager, he guides multi-department operations, including guest services, marketing coordination, HR collaboration, accounting oversight, and policy development, overseeing more than 65 employees across operations and coaching.
We wanted to know more about his drive to work in wave pools and learn how he got here. In the process, we uncover an almost career path of wildlife biology as well as learn what a typical workday looks like.
