Praia da Cidade Surf Club has announced plans for a family-oriented lifestyle destination in the Belo Horizonte metropolitan region, with an official launch scheduled for the second half of 2026. Developers said that the project is currently in its final planning and permitting stages, although an exact location has not been publicly disclosed.
According to the company, the development is expected to include what it describes as Brazil’s first saltwater wave pool, powered by technology developed by Surf Park Resort (SPR). The Alfatech powered facility is targeting surfers and bodyboarders of varying skill levels and aims to provide year-round access to the sports.
“The concept goes beyond a traditional surf park,” said Fábio Ferraz of SPR. “Our goal is to bring the beach lifestyle to Minas Gerais, one of Brazil’s largest inland markets, through a family-oriented destination centered around what is expected to become Brazil’s first saltwater wave pool.”
Planned amenities include a white-sand beach, beach tennis courts, beach volleyball facilities, footvolley courts, fitness and wellness areas, food and beverage venues, hospitality accommodations, and an events venue.
The project’s founders said the development is intended to serve families and visitors seeking sports and leisure activities.
“We’re not just building a surf club; we’re creating a place where families can reconnect with each other while disconnecting from the demands of everyday life,” said the company in a statement. “Our vision is to bring the spirit of the beach to Minas Gerais and create a destination where people can spend meaningful time together, enjoying sports, nature, great food and unforgettable experiences.”
The company added that the project will also generate jobs, support tourism development, and increase demand for local services.
