Palm Springs Surf Club Wave Pool Guide

When the Palm Springs Surf Club first turned on the machine two years ago, we were treated to a steady diet of aqua barrels peeling off against a backdrop of construction ephemera. But when the grand opening finally arrived, our hearts sank. Like some narcoleptic diva, the wave pool filled our digital dreams—only to shut down, open, close, then sputter back to life.

There’s a long history here. What began as a $50 million endeavor to bring waves to SoCal’s favorite weekend getaway was sidelined by COVID, inflation, rising construction costs, and, finally, some truly bad luck. Today, after more investment and time, the pool is back—and firing on all cylinders.

While some surf parks can feel like the wave-riding equivalent of dining at Olive Garden, PSSC is haute cuisine.

Surf sessions range from $100 for beginners to $250 for the slab setting. Intermediate and advanced sessions are priced at $200.

The wave pool is about a two-hour drive from the expansive sprawl of Southern California. Once beyond the freeway system, the landscape opens to a big, beautiful horizon. While you’re here, don’t miss the roadside attractions offering a unique slice of Americana—California desert style.

There are plenty of amenities for non-surfing companions. These include a lazy river, cabanas, a fine-dining restaurant, and even water slides. The wave pool has weathered its share of turbulence but now stands as a polished gem among the world’s top surf parks.

The pool delivers waves from two to seven feet and accommodates all levels, from beginners to pros. Located 2.5 hours from Los Angeles, PSSC spans 21 acres and combines resort-style luxury with action-sports appeal. Visitors can access a full range of activities, including surfing, dining, waterslides, lounge pools, a lazy river, social club spaces, and special event venues.
