Bright sunshine, temperatures above 20 degrees and the rhythmic sound of waves: On Saturday, O₂ SURFTOWN MUC became the centre of the German surfing scene with the Red Bull Pool Clash 2025, proving that top-level surfing competitions can also be held in the middle of the city.
The best river and ocean surfers from the scene competed against each other, with 3,000 guests watching the spectacle live at the wave pool.
“We have surfers who come from the sea, and we also have surfers who only surf in rivers, i.e. river and rapid waves,” said German surfer Leon Glatzer. “It’s a very cool combination because you get to see different styles and approaches to the wave.”
80 men and 38 women took on the challenge in the A-Frame Advanced Jam Sessions and the subsequent head-to-head duels in pointbreak mode. In the best-of-5 final, creativity, flow, and risk-taking ultimately decided victory or defeat.
In the men’s final Tien Domann prevailed against a strong Dominic Reisch, impressing the judges with clean cutbacks, snaps, and high-risk maneuvers. Among the women, Rosina Neuerer lived up to her role as favorite. She impressed the judges all the way to the final with her clean surfing style and won the duel against Valeska Schneider.
The winners not only earned fame and glory but also attractive prizes, including an exclusive trip to the Aquarabia surf pool in Saudi Arabia.
The DWV awarded two further wildcards for the 2026 German Surfing Championships to Dennis Scharf and Lena Reinsch.
Red Bull athletes Dominik Gührs (wakeboarder) and Leon Glatzer (surfer) provided a spectacular highlight: Dominik was pulled over the wave on his wakeboard and performed a backflip directly over Leon, who was coming towards him on his surfboard: a world first that had never been seen before.
