WavePoolMag has followed Stab’s courtship of the wave pool world since their first Stab High event in 2018. Since then it’s been held at several pools across the surf park world including Shizunami, Waco, Sydney and Palm Springs. This week we learned that Atlantic Park Surf will host the next event. Full details below…
Stab and Monster Energy will hold Stab High on May 15 and 16 at Atlantic Park Surf. The event will run on Friday, May 15 and Saturday, May 16, EST and will be open to the public. A live broadcast will be available exclusively on Stab Premium.
“With its state-of-the-art, arena-like environment, Atlantic Park Surf provides an ideal setting for watching the world’s best aerial surfers compete and take the sport to new heights,” said Nate Stevens, General Manager at Atlantic Park Surf. “Collaborating with Wavegarden and Stab, our team is developing a custom air wave specifically for Stab High, and we are excited to showcase these incredible waves–and athletes–on a global stage.”
Stab High will include four divisions: Pro Men’s, Vans Pro Women’s, Vans Ladybirds for 15-and-under girls, and Bottle Rockets presented by Yeti for 15-and-under boys. A separate award, the Monster Air, will go to the surfer who performs the most impactful air of the event, regardless of division.
“Stab High says goodbye to waiting periods, dead air, and playing it safe,” said Stab. “In their place: two days of surfing’s least risk-averse humans launching themselves skyward and going as big as possible, on demand.”
Participating surfers include Virginia Beach’s very own Blayr Barton and Story Martinez; two-time Olympic medalist Gold Medalist Sky Brown; South African professional surfer Mikey February; and professional skateboarder Curren Caples.
