The Surf Farm development at the Glass House Mountains on the Sunshine Coast, is expected to begin construction later this year.
The project will include a surf park alongside food and beverage, retail, community spaces, and events programming. The development is intended to operate year-round and target both local residents and domestic visitors.
The surf facility will use a 62-module Wavegarden Cove system and is expected to be the largest installation of its type on Australia’s east coast.
Josema Odriozola, founder and chief executive of Wavegarden, said their technology has come a long way.
“The 62 modules Wavegarden Cove will provide an exceptional breadth of wave settings, offering one of the most versatile surf experiences in the region,” he said. “We are delighted to partner with the Surf Farm team and look forward to seeing this world-class destination come to life.”
The development will be located in Queensland and adds to existing surf park projects in Melbourne, Sydney, and Perth.
Surf Farm team member and 2012 World Champ Joel Parkinson said the project is a game-changer for the region.
“Surf Farm is about creating something truly special for surfers and the wider community,” he said. “It’s a game-changing project for the region, it’s a place where beginners, families, and elite surfers can all share the same world-class environment.”
