URBNSURF has extended its exclusive partnership with HYDA Helmets in a new two-year agreement covering its Melbourne and Sydney surf parks.
The agreement maintains HYDA as URBNSURF’s exclusive helmet partner and includes the rollout of HYDA’s EN 1385-certified Coanda Core helmets as part of the parks’ complimentary guest helmet fleet. The new helmets will be available free to all guests.
URBNSURF Chief Operating Officer Shaun Hutchinson said the company would upgrade its helmet fleet as part of the renewed partnership.
“HYDA have been a trusted partner and an important part of URBNSURF’s commitment to safety, and we’re thrilled to strengthen the relationship further,” Hutchinson said. “Upgrading our fleet to the Coanda Core supports our mission to deliver world-class, safe surf experiences for every guest.”
According to the company, the Coanda Core helmet features an updated shell design and is intended to provide safety, versatility and comfort. The new fleet will roll out from late December.
The partnership will also include increased HYDA branding across both venues and additional helmet access points for guests. The companies plan to collaborate on co-created content focused on athlete performance, safety innovation and surf park practices. URBNSURF said the initiative is part of its broader effort to normalize helmet use in surfing.
HYDA Chief Executive Officer Brad Steward said the company would continue working with URBNSURF under the extended agreement.
“HYDA is built for progression, and surf parks are accelerating it faster than ever,” said Steward. “URBNSURF sets the global standard for safe, progressive surf environments, and we’re proud to continue our collaboration to equip the next generation with advanced protective gear that keeps them confident and focused.”
URBNSURF recently led the adoption of minimum safety standards among several surf park operators, including free access to helmets at all surf parks. The company said the partnership reflects ongoing industry collaboration focused on surf park safety.
