A new surf park hotel is set to open in mid-March at Atlantic Park, the 10.2-acre mixed-use development backed by Pharrell Williams and stoking Virginia Beach surfers since its opening last year.
The Sitio is a 20-room boutique hotel located within the Atlantic Park district, steps from Atlantic Park Surf and the Atlantic Ocean. The hotel is part of the $350 million Atlantic Park project developed through a public-private partnership that includes the City of Virginia Beach, the Virginia Beach Development Authority, Venture Realty Group, W.M. Jordan Company, Bishard Development, and Priority Title/H2O Investments.
According to project representatives, the surf park hotel will provide direct access to the Wavegarden Cove lagoon, along with nearby dining, retail, and live entertainment venues. The adjacent Dome music venue, now known as The Dome, is operated through a partnership between OVG360 and Live Nation.
“With its thoughtful design and elevated approach to comfort and hospitality, The Sitio is unlike anything else at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront,” said Brittany Baer Albert, Development and Operations Manager for Venture Realty Group, developer of Atlantic Park. “Set against the vibrant backdrop of Atlantic Park and within footsteps of the Atlantic Park Surf lagoon, the hotel is uniquely positioned to provide seamless access to dining, retail, entertaining and surf experiences not found anywhere else.”
Rooms and Amenities
The surf park hotel includes 20 guest rooms featuring natural materials, custom surf racks and artwork. All rooms are outfitted with Belgian Libeco linens and locally sourced details. Seven rooms include private balconies with views of the surf lagoon. The property also features an infinity-edge pool overlooking the lagoon.

Local Art and Design Elements
The Sitio incorporates furnishings and design details created by local artists in Virginia Beach’s ViBe Creative District. The front desk was fashioned from a tree trunk by Benevolent Design Co. Trees removed during early construction phases were repurposed into furnishings and design features throughout Atlantic Park by Benevolent Design Co., Goold Furniture and Design, and Wooden Object Studios.
Leather key fobs were produced locally by North End Bag Co. A selection of custom retail items from local partners will be available in the hotel lobby.
Artwork displayed at the property includes pieces by French artist JR and Virginia Beach–born artist Schuyler Beecroft. Project materials state that Atlantic Park collaborates with local, regional and national artists on murals across the development. Music playlists at the hotel will be curated by Pharrell Williams’ team.

Access to Surf and Retail
The surf park hotel is located within walking distance of Atlantic Park Surf and a range of dining and retail businesses, including Nami Nori, Johnnie-O, The Hampton Social, Wiseguy Pizza, Faherty, Lululemon and Quiet Storm Surf Shop.
Concierge services will include assistance with booking surf sessions, arranging private surf lessons and requesting in-room surfboard delivery with custom wax.
“As its Spanish name suggests, The Sitio wants to be ‘the place’ where guests can create meaningful memories – a space to rest, reenergize and connect with their surroundings,” Albert said. “From surf culture and the arts to great dining and premier entertainment, we hope everyone who visits will immerse themselves in all that Atlantic Park and Virginia Beach have to offer.”
