Team USA wins first Continental Surf Cup at Lakeside Surf

Team USA won its first Continental Surf Cup at Lakeside Surf in Chelan, Washington, defeating three-time defending champion Team Europe 27.75 to 23.25. Cash Hoover of O’ahu, Hawaii, won the women’s overall title and Germany’s Lenny Weinhold won the men’s overall title. Hoover finished as Team USA’s top individual points contributor with 9.5 points, while Weinhold secured his fourth individual Continental Surf Cup title.

Team USA entered the second day with a five-point lead before Team Europe reduced the margin to 1.5 points ahead of the women’s final.

Reese Bordner of Chelan opened the women’s final by landing her first air-reverse in a standard heat and scoring an 8.83. Hoover nearly matched her teammate’s score on her first run, and both improved their scores on their second attempts. Their results secured the team title before Hoover’s fourth and final run.

Hoover won the maximum 9.5 team points available during the competition. She was paired with her female teammates through the first four rounds, with the group winning each heat point. Hoover also earned half a point by winning the best trick competition and five points for the individual title.

The result was Hoover’s second Continental Surf Cup individual championship and her third consecutive major title at Lakeside Surf following her win at the 2025 Gerry Lopez River Surf Invitational. Bordner contributed seven points for Team USA, including three points for finishing second overall.

Team USA’s women won six of eight heats during the first four rounds. Maya Cowan of Chelan and Sierra White of Wenatchee also competed for the U.S. women, who contributed a combined 14.25 points.

Cash Eygabroad of Chelan contributed four points and advanced to the men’s overall final.

Team Europe reduced the U.S. lead to one point following the women’s consolation final. Ben Benson then finished fifth in the men’s competition, increasing the U.S. advantage to 1.5 points heading into the overall finals. Benson scored a 9.08 on his first run and improved his score on his second and third runs.
