The Revel Reveal: Settings and pricing for that new Arizona wave pool

We’ve seen a tempting stream of social teasers from Revel Surf this month, most from master film-maker Aaron Lieber. As Arizona’s only operating wave pool gears up for public launch, we’ve gathered some vital information regarding pricing and wave settings.

The Technology

Instead of pneumatics housed inside caissons like other technologies, the SwellMFG-powered Revel Surf facility in Mesa features 21 levers or “wave-boards” that can be sequenced and adjusted to operate at different speeds. The timing and power of each board can be controlled individually, allowing for customization of waves.

The Wave

All public sessions will feature a split peak, allowing surfers to access both right and left waves simultaneously. This setup accommodates both regular and goofy foot surfers, providing opportunities to ride both frontside and backside during each session. There will be 16 surfers sharing the peak, eight on each side. Surfers can expect about 12 waves per session. A guide will be present to help participants review the wave conditions and choose their preferred surfing options.

Memberships

Revel Surf Membership is $75 per month plus taxes and fees after a $1,000 one-time non-refundable fee. After that primary membership is established, one can add additional members to the family at reduced rate. For example, adding an additional person, a spouse or a teenageer for exmaple, becomes $50 instead of $75. Add-on kids age 5-12 years is $35 and those under 5 are free.

If members add three or more surf sessions each month, the montly beach pass fee (also $75) is waived for the first user. The website says the monthly cost will automatically adjust based on the number of sessions added.

UNIT Surf Pool

The standing wave offers sessions starting at $75 per session. The UNIT Surf Pool generates a deepwater standing wave that can be adjusted to accommodate surfers of varying skill levels, from beginners to advanced. Revel offers surf lessons, open surf hours and private sessions on their UNIT wave pool.

Revel Surf is the focal point of the 37-acre mixed-use project at Cannon Beach in Mesa, Arizona. The development will also feature a four-story hotel, office buildings, and a co-working space and also incorporate a gym, dining options, retail shops, and various community spaces.
