Two Takes on Sao Paulo’s Massive Air Wave

Wave Pool Testing and Technology

We love YouTube. It’s telling how the same event, in this case the opening of the Sao Paulo Surf Club, can be interpreted through two very different lenses. While Rob Machado and Firewire crew dissect and analyze the wave pool world’s It Girl of the moment against an audio bed of defiant jazz, Jacob Szekely goes full heavy metal YouTuber. Both parties disect some of the highest airs ever in a wave pool courtesy of PerfectSwell’s new McFly setting.

The São Paulo Surf Club offers family memberships at R$950,000 (~$190,000 USD). Members can access the wave pool, lounge, restaurant, bar, and outdoor relaxation areas. The surf pool is 220 meters long and generates 22-second artificial waves. The system is also active at JHSF’s Boa Vista Village. Nearby hotel stays start at $55 USD, allowing visitors to experience the city’s first artificial wave pool. The club is part of the Real Park development.
