URBNSURF Sydney marked its one-year anniversary on May 13, 2025. Located at Sydney Olympic Park, the surf park reports that more than 100,000 people have visited the site since its opening. The company says it has delivered over 150,000 surf sessions in 12 months. These include beginner sessions as well as advanced rides at The Point.
Surf Lessons and Participation Growth
URBNSURF Sydney also reports more than 18,000 surf lessons during the year. Of those, over 16,000 people experienced their first wave. Female participation increased by 50% across both The Point and The Bays surf areas, according to company data.
Local schools brought students for structured programs. The surf park claims it provided a safe and controlled environment to introduce youth to surfing culture.

Notable Visitors and Public Interest
The facility has drawn a wide range of guests. URBNSURF Sydney states that public figures such as Chris Hemsworth, Rob Machado, Blake Johnston, The Norris Nuts, Jess Fox, and Ruby Trew have surfed at the park.
“URBNSURF is more than just a surf park – it’s become the beating heart of Western Sydney’s surf scene,” said Jennifer Vandekreeke, CEO of URBNSURF Sydney. “We’ve welcomed everyone from beginners to pros, and brought ocean-like waves to people who might never have had the chance to surf.”
Visitor Breakdown and Reach
According to the company, 86% of visitors came from New South Wales. The park also drew interstate travelers, especially from Queensland, along with international tourists. Some guests from coastal suburbs like Bondi and Dee Why traveled west to access consistent waves.

Economic and Program Development
URBNSURF Sydney reports that it has created local employment. It also launched a training program for surf coaches. The venue hosted various surf events, including NSW Boardriders Club competitions and a commercial film project.
The site at Sydney Olympic Park added several amenities throughout the year. These include Sandy’s bar, RAFI dining, a Rip Curl retail store, and a product called the Unlimited Learn to Surf Pass.
Environmental Efforts and Future Plans
The company adopted an eco-focused landscaping method by introducing goats—named Kelly, Layne, Steph, and Mick—to maintain the grounds. URBNSURF Sydney describes this as part of its sustainability efforts.
Looking ahead, the park plans to host new events and expand its surf progression programs. The company aims to strengthen its role as a leading inland surf destination in Australia.
