The URBNSURF Sydney lineup came online last year, joining its Melbourne counterpart as one of only two public facing surf parks in Australia. The facility boasts modern architecture, permanent structures, and a vibrant blue lagoon, thanks to a new liner system. Dining options include the upscale Raffi’s and the casual poolside Sandy’s. Additional amenities encompass conference spaces for yoga classes and corporate events.
The Sydney wave pool utilizes a 46-module Wavegarden Cove system, delivering waves at eight-second intervals in five-wave sets, allowing surfers to catch approximately 10 to 12 waves per session. This setup provides a brief respite between waves, enhancing the surfing experience.
Did you ever wonder what the little marks on the wall of URBNSURF Sydney mean?
But all of this means nothing if you buy a session, paddle out, and miss waves. Thankfully we came across YouTuber Surfing With Ed. In his 6-minute clip using animation and clear instructions, Ed helps us know when and where to line up for your session. He does this for each wave setting including (listed below)
Standard Sessions & Rates:
- Cruiser / Intermediate / Progressive Turns: $104 AUD (≈ $62 USD)
- Advanced / Advanced Turns: $109 AUD (≈ $65 USD)

Surfers can record their sessions using the Flowstate AI camera system, with videos and photos available for download via the Flowstate website for a nominal fee. Post-surf, guests often gather at Sandy’s to review their performances on a dedicated TV screen.
Located 14 kilometers west of downtown Sydney, URBNSURF is accessible via the 526 bus line, which stops directly in front of the park. For those exploring beyond the city, the nearby Blue Mountains offer a scenic day trip.
Insider tip: Try the barbecued pork or vegetarian bowl at Sandy’s, and if it’s chilly, enjoy the outdoor heating provided by the restaurant.
