Construction has officially entered the vertical phase at Zion Shores, an inland surf resort that will feature a PerfectSwell surf lagoon and two UNIT standing wave systems. The milestone was marked with a foundation ceremony attended by approximately 150 guests, including developers, city officials, engineers, and surf technology partners.
Zion Shores will be the first installation site for UNIT Surf Pool’s new 50-meter Dynamic Wave. The Utah site will also include an 18-meter UNIT Standing Wave.
“This installation marks an evolution in what artificial surfing can be and showcases what is possible when strong partners align around a shared vision,” said UNIT Surf Pool in a press release. “The Dynamic Wave is our newest and largest innovation. A leap forward in artificial wave technology and Zion Shores will be the first place in the world to feature it.”
The event signified the completion of groundwork and the start of full-scale development. Concrete was scheduled to be poured the day after the ceremony.
“Zion Shores is on track to become a truly one-of-a-kind surf resort, built on trust, capability, and exceptional collaboration,” said project owner Cody Larkin.
Attendees at the event included representatives from American Wave Machines, city officials from Washington, Utah, and engineering and design firms such as AE Urbia, Cloward H2O, and Landworks. Homebuilders Ember Homes and Immaculate Homes, who are also involved with Southern Shores, were present.
The ceremony concluded with a visit to Southern Shores, where participants surfed the 16-meter UNIT Standing Wave.
Zion Shores will include 65 residential lots, all with lagoon access and desert views. Residents will have access to paddleboarding areas and receive priority access to surf sessions. The community offers three tiers of property types: custom home lots, single-family homes, and townhomes. Prices start at $1.5 million.
