Wave Pool Fundraising Challenge Returns to Help SurfAid Programs

SurfAid has selected the winner of its “World’s Best Surf Month” contest to surf every day in September at URBNSURF as part of its annual wave pool fundraising challenge.

Surfers from 28 countries have joined the Make a Wave challenge since 2021, raising over $2.6 million for SurfAid. Participants commit to surfing daily during the month to support programs that aim to improve access to clean water, healthcare, and food security in remote surf communities, according to the organization.

Wave pools are a natural access point to meet challenges. This year URBNSURF offered Winter Warrior passes at their two locations. In Sydney, Blake Johnston used his pass to break a world record.

URBNSURF has now introduced the SurfAid Make A Wave multipack ahead of this year’s challenge. The package includes 30 sessions for $1,600, pricing each session at $53. URBNSURF will donate $200 to SurfAid for every multipack sold.

URBNSURF is offering the Make A Wave multipack which gives surfers 30 sessions at a discount price to encourage surfing every day for the month of September.

Daily Surfers Take the Challenge

Winners include 12-year-old Kyuss Rimmer and Melbourne-based surfer Allison.

“This September, I’m surfing every day for 30 days as part of @surfaid Make A Wave challenge — to support families living in remote surf communities around the world,” Allison posted on social media. “Because behind every dream surf destination, there are local families working hard to access the things many of us take for granted — clean water, healthcare, and nutritious food. Every wave we ride next month has a ripple effect.”

Allison will complete her daily surf sessions at the Melbourne wave pool.

Young Competitor Relocates for the Cause

Kyuss Rimmer, winner of the 2025 West Australia State Under 12 Championship, will relocate from Perth to Sydney to complete the challenge. He was one of two winners of the SurfAid and URBNSURF “World’s Best Surf Month” competition.

Kyuss will surf at URBNSURF Sydney every day for 30 days. He will continue his education through homeschooling, led by his mother, a teacher.

“We saw the opportunity come up on social media and couldn’t not apply,” Kyuss said. “I’m so excited to surf every day in September at URBNSURF Sydney and raise money for SurfAid.”
