Any surf park employee will tell you that the most common question on site is, “What setting is that?” Surfers want to match the wave height and power with the description to know if it’s the right setting. Choose a session too advanced and it’s an hour of stacking the takeoff with little ride time. Choose a session too easy, and a guest’s high-performance shortboard becomes a magic rail bogging machine for the hour. The topic is so important to the success of a surf park that we did an entire podcast on the subject.
A facility needs to ensure that customers can advance up the chain. Coaches and staff are more than happy to help, but words like “Cruiser” or “Progressive” only go so far. A video clip tells more of the story.
Lost Shore currently has 20 different sessions on offer in the lagoon. To get a quick reference point, here are four waves from different sessions side by side. With the help of Flowstate AI Video, here is the Cruiser Plus (Beginner) setting, the Turns setting (Intermediate) and the High-Performance and Barrel (Advanced) settings.
All waves are ridden by the same surfer using the Firewire Too Fish (Cruiser Plus & Turns) and the Firewire Mashup (High Performance & Barrels).
