A new iteration of the Wavegarden Cove artificial wave system launched this week at Beyond the Club, a sports and leisure facility developed by KSM Realty in the São Paulo region. The surf lagoon features a 62-module wave generator and redesigned bathymetry, elements Wavegarden says contribute to improved wave quality and consistency.
Wave Generator and Bathymetry Improvements
According to Wavegarden, the new reef and bathymetric layout accommodate various wave types, including high-performance barreling and aerial waves. The company states the wave faces are broad and maintain consistent speed and shape until they dissipate in a soft bowl. The barrel section reportedly lasts around nine seconds, with skilled surfers potentially extending rides to eleven seconds. Wavegarden claims these barrels remain open during high-frequency sessions of up to 200 waves per hour.
The updated design also introduces accessible takeoff versions for beginner surfers and more demanding “slab” waves preferred by professionals.

Aerial and Malibu-Style Waves
Wavegarden reports that aerial waves have seen enhanced performance due to new ramps and reef contours. Notable additions include a double-section wave and dedicated alley-oop sections.
The facility also includes Malibu-style waves, which Wavegarden describes as consistent and mellow, with ride durations averaging 34 seconds.
Wave Production and Design
The artificial wave pool in São Paulo reportedly produces 200 to 250 waves per hour with minimal surface chop or currents, according to Wavegarden. The company states the underlying reef took over a year to develop and that the São Paulo installation marks the first implementation of this system. Wavegarden plans to adopt this setup in future facilities and now offers retrofitting options for existing installations
Wavegarden Cove São Paulo Facility Features and Amenities
The central feature of Wavegarden Cove São Paulo is a 28,000-square-meter surf lagoon surrounded by a beach area. The Wave Menu at Beyond The Club offers more than 25 wave types, ranging from beginner-friendly rollers to steep, barreling waves suited for advanced maneuvers such as turns, aerials, and tube rides. Wavegarden describes the system as using the lowest energy and water consumption in its category.
Beyond surfing, the complex includes indoor and outdoor pools, a skatepark designed by professional skater Bob Burnquist, soccer fields, and multisport simulators. Additional amenities include a surf academy, gym, spa, retail store, and wellness facilities. Hospitality offerings comprise a 78-room hotel, nine restaurants, a jazz bar, wine cellar, and a nightclub.

Official Statement from KSM Realty
Oscar Segall, founder of KSM Realty, shared his vision for the project and how it came about.
“I envisioned Beyond The Club as a place with waves and a beach, sports, and leisure – designed for families who value well-being, connection, and the joy of creating unforgettable moments every day. It’s a space built on purpose, innovation, and the dream of transforming São Paulo into a lighter, more soulful, and more connected city.”
Oscar’s company KSM Realty also developed the Praia da Grama wave pool development. Which is also in Sao Paulo. (WavePoolMag interviewed Oscar at that time and you can listen to the podcast here.)
Projected Opening and Market Context
The full opening happens in October. The São Paulo site positions itself within a growing global trend of high-capacity artificial wave pools and surf parks. These facilities increasingly serve both local surf communities and international visitors seeking controlled wave conditions.
