Wavegarden Partners with Surf Eye to Update CheckMySurf

Wavegarden has partnered with Surf Eye to evolve its CheckMySurf video and coaching system. The collaboration combines video capture, replay screens, and operational controls tied to the Wavegarden wave generator. The camera system records surfers across the Reef and Bay areas of the Cove system using multiple camera angles and delivers video through a bespoke web platform.

Background

Wavegarden launched CheckMySurf in 2023 but never fully deployed it at Cove-powered venues. Instead, customers can find both Flowstate and Surf Eye systems at today’s Wavegarden venues. Surf Eye is currently installed at Wavegarden’s Alaïa Bay and Praia da Grama surf parks while you can find the Flowstate system installed in Coves at Lost Shore, Virginia Beach, The Wave Bristol as well as the URBNSURF Melbourne and URBNSURF Sydney locations.

This new partnership will integrate Surf Eye software with the previous CheckMySurf system. The announcement signals a shift for Wavegarden with its official adoption of Surf Eye.

What the Partnership Will Do

According to the press release, the system manages operational functions, including wave adjustments and safety monitoring. It detects incidents, alerts staff, and can stop the machine in certain situations if necessary, and also provides continuous monitoring of the lagoon. In-machine screens at the take-off provide real-time replays, live session data, safety information and branded content. Surfers can review rides through on-site replay screens.

Video content is delivered through a special platform and displayed across venue screens, including clubhouse areas. Wavegarden stated the system will be included in new projects and updated over time to maintain compatibility with operational improvements.

“This partnership allows us to bring CheckMySurf to another level and offer surfers and operators an unprecedented AI-driven experience,” said Josema about today’s partnership. “This is not just about video recording; it is about the convergence of surf, science and engineering.”

Today’s Landscape

AI Video Systems for surf parks have become the go-to souvenir for wave pool patrons as clients share their experiences on social media. The setups use multi-camera networks and computer vision software to automatically record and track surfers, generate individual ride clips, and deliver video through web or mobile platforms. The systems also include on-site replay screens, session data, and safety information, and can produce performance analysis based on movement tracking.

Industry adoption of AI video is used for coaching, guest engagement, and operational monitoring.

Alessandro Fracassi, CEO and Founder of Surf Eye said their system was created to help surfers improve faster and capture those special wave pool moments.

“Integrating our AI technology with Wavegarden’s machines allows us to bring that mission to millions of surfers worldwide.”
