WavePoolMag video guide to that downtown dutch wave pool
The RiF010 wave pool in Rotterdam, a Surf Loch design, opened its doors a decade after its initial proposal in 2014. This public facility offers urban surfing in a compact space, maximizing every square meter for amenities and a surf shop. Developers aim to boost tourism and attract surfers from the Dutch and Belgian coasts. The surrounding area is lively with shops and restaurants, with the RiF010 bar and restaurant serving as the prime viewing spot. The wave pool features a soft right-breaking wave, providing a more manageable alternative to the North Sea’s chaotic surf. Sessions are priced between €35 and €60, depending on wave height, with beginners starting at one meter and experts tackling waves up to 1.5 meters. Each session includes a soft-top board rental, with Libtech boards available for an additional fee. Surfers can expect 11 to 13 waves per session at RiF010.
