WAVESEG Announces Green Hydrogen-Powered System

Brazil’s WAVESEG wave pool technology company, has introduced a surf system they say is powered by green hydrogen. The technology is designed to offer a customizable, low-emission conventional surf lagoon.

Green hydrogen is produced by splitting water to remove the hydrogen molecule while only using renewable energy like wind or solar. Unlike grey or brown hydrogen, it emits no carbon during production. Company representatives say that the technology runs off-grid, and requires limited operational input.

From Argentina to Brazil

“Today we are proud to launch our new technology based on green hydrogen to the market, which allows us to place ourselves at the forefront of the industry by greatly reducing the costs of our attractions and their maintenance,” said Omar Modini in an email to WavePoolMag. “WAVESEG, is not only a wave generation system, we are also dedicated to innovating with our completely natural filtering system and, recently, we have innovated with our own energy generation system, completely off-grid, through hydrogenation and our water heaters that also powered by our green hydrogen.”

Wave Technology

According to WAVESEG, their wave system uses modular construction and functions autonomously, allowing for deployment across various locations such as public facilities, resorts, residential communities, and remote areas.

Wave heights range from 0.5 to 2 meters. The design includes impact-reducing soft walls and flooring, as well as thermally regulated water, treated through a natural filtration process. WAVESEG states that the system aims to balance performance with user safety and resource efficiency.

Wave characteristics can be adjusted to suit different skill levels through customizable settings for frequency, shape, and intensity.

WAVESEG is developed in Brazil and the company stated they are aiming for reach in global markets, including places with limited infrastructure.
