Why yes, wave pools do ribbon cutting ceremonies

Ribbon cutting ceremony in Scotland kicks off public entry to Europe’s largest wave pool, the 52-module Cove at Lost Shore Surf Resort.

Scotland’s first inland surf resort officially opened with an ribbon-cutting ceremony at its £60m site in Ratho, near Edinburgh, marking a new era for Scotland’s adventure tourism.

Founder Andy Hadden, joined by Ratho Primary P7 House Captains, Scottish Junior Series Champion Robyn Larg, and professional surfer Ben Larg, proudly cut the ribbon at Europe’s largest and most advanced wave pool.

“This is a dream come true,” said Hadden. “We’re thrilled to welcome visitors to experience Scotland’s new hub for world-class surfing, hospitality, and wellness.”

Besides the 52-module Wavegarden Cove, the resort features luxury lodges, the Spear Sauna, and top Scottish eateries like Civerinos and Five March.

In addition to surfing, the resort will offer surfskating through The Surfskate Academy. The facility will also support initiatives such as Inclusive Surfing Scotland and The Wave Project, which provide adaptive surfing and mental health support for young people.
