Construction continues at Zion Shores in Utah, where infrastructure, residential development and surf facilities are progressing across the planned surf-centered community.
Since the project’s foundation ceremony in November 2025, road base installation and most curb and gutter work have been completed, making the development’s M-shaped lagoon design visible. Gas lines and wet utilities, including sewer, water and storm drainage systems, have also been installed. The first homes are under construction, with additional homes and townhomes expected to begin construction.
Zion Shores will include 65 residential lots, all with lagoon access and desert views. The community will offer three property types: custom home lots, single-family homes and townhomes. Prices start at $1.5 million. Residents will have access to paddleboarding areas and receive priority access to surf sessions.
The development will be the first installation site for UNIT Surf Pool’s new 50-meter Dynamic Wave. The Utah site will also include an 18-meter UNIT Standing Wave and a PerfectSwell travelling wave system.
Construction crews recently completed foundations for the 50-meter Dynamic Wave and the 18-meter Standing Wave during a single overnight concrete operation.
According to UNIT Surf Pool, the foundation pours were completed within nine hours. The company said the work required continuous concrete delivery during a weekend nighttime operation because of the scale of the foundations.
The foundations were poured in a single operation, supported by 130 concrete trucks and three pumps. UNIT Surf Pool said approximately 500,000 pounds of rebar were used to improve load distribution and structural integrity.
With the foundations for both UNIT surf pools completed, concrete work on the lagoon that will connect the Standing Wave and Dynamic Wave is continuing. Most lagoon piping has also been installed and will be connected to the mechanical filtration building during a future construction phase.
According to UNIT Surf Pool, the 18-meter UNIT Standing Wave will be the largest of its kind in the world and twice as large as the company’s first prototype in Langenfeld. The company described the UNIT Dynamic Wave as “our largest and newest innovation,” a “50-meter Surf Pool creating multiple moving surf pockets that bring real ocean dynamics into a compact environment.”
One of the standing waves is expected to open in 2026 ahead of completion of the wider development, similar to Southern Shores, where a 16-meter-wide UNIT Surf Pool began operating before the broader project was completed.
