Having Thor session your wave tank has become a status symbol in the surf park world. Sure you can boast wave settings, frequency, length of ride, amenities and special inclusive events – but has your wave pool been surfed by the best-known of the Hemsworth clan?

We received a note from Ashley Mahon in Sydney that Chris had recently been spotted enjoying a family day out at URBNSURF Sydney. 

“The Hollywood star showed off his impressive surfing skills alongside his wife, Elsa Pataky, and their three children in his Instagram post here,” said Ashley. “This candid family outing provided an intimate glimpse into Hemsworth’s life away from the spotlight.”

Ashley noted that the crew spent the day riding waves and making the most of the facilities. 

Chris has a long history of wave pool love. Pre-pandemic he and his brother Liam tested out some of the first waves in Melbourne in 2019. Chris’ wave pool credits include URBNSURF Melbourne, URBNSURF Sydney, Surf Lakes Yeppoon, Alaia Bay Switzerland, Boa Vista Brazil, and Surf Abu Dhabi UAE.

Which leads us to speculate that with Palm Springs on the eve of their relaunch and being only a two hour drive from Hollywood, desert surfers should keep their eyes peeled.

The Lowdown: Four kilometres west of Sydney’s downtown and one kilometre from the central train station, URBNSURF Sydney operates for 16 hours per day, from 6 am to 10 pm. Session prices will vary from $30 to $159 AUD depending on the level. The grounds include a massive event space next to the lagoon, which can host 2000 people for live events including music, unique sporting events, and more. Other amenities include a Surf Academy, Cabanas for private use, a 20m leisure pool and 8m kids pool, playground, surf-skate pad, retail store, a high-performance center, a multifunction room and a health and wellness studio.
