Collab to provide access to surfing programs tailored for autistic and neurodivergent individuals
Aventuur has announced a partnership with Ocean Heroes to support individuals on the autism spectrum and their families at the upcoming Perth Surf Park, set to open in early 2027 in Cockburn Central.
The collaboration aims to enhance community wellbeing by providing access to surfing programs tailored for autistic and neurodivergent individuals. The wave pool will allow participants to engage in safe and controlled surfing experiences, regardless of weather conditions.
Ocean Heroes will assist in designing accessible amenities and developing adaptive surfing programs in conjunction with local organizations, including Surfing WA and Micro Surf Academy. The partnership will also facilitate the establishment of an accessible division of Perth’s first inland boardriders club and promote surf awareness among school-aged children.
Aventuur’s Chairman, Andrew Ross, highlighted the importance of the partnership in making surfing more inclusive for all West Australians. The Perth Surf Park is projected to create over 300 jobs during construction and contribute significantly to the local economy. With all necessary approvals in place, construction is anticipated to begin in early 2025.
