EpicSurf Standing Wave Pool to Open at Florida Facility this year

The Heroes Paradise entertainment facility in Brandon, Florida, will add a deep-water standing wave pool as part of its planned expansion. The featured wave pool by EpicSurf is developed by Aquatic Development Group (ADG) and is scheduled to open in 2025.
Cultural Shift for Attractions
The addition is notable because it is the first family entertainment development to add a legit rapid wave pool. Previously, facilities like this only ventured as far as a FlowRider system or electronic simulation when it came to surf offerings. Culturally the shift marks a turning point where lazer tag now sits alongside a customizable surf experience. You can read more about the intersection of the amusements industry and surf parks here.
The EpicSurf Stationary Wave Pool
According to ADG, the wave height for the EpicSurf system can be adjusted between three to five feet to accommodate different skill levels, from beginners to experienced surfers. The new wave pool will feature an ES46 model with 46 feet of surf-able wave width and an overall footprint of 66 feet by 90 feet. People refer to this type of wave pool by several terms, including standing wave, deepwater standing wave, rapid wave pool, and stationary wave pool.
The Florida Venue
Heroes Paradise spans more than eight acres and currently offers activities such as a laser tag course, archery tag, an interactive rock-climbing wall, a flight simulator, and two remote control car courses. The venue also includes four gameplay fields and a two-story clubhouse with a covered outdoor deck.
Julie and Tim Pennenga, owners of Heroes Paradise, considered several options before selecting EpicSurf for their expansion.
“The team behind EpicSurf has been incredible to work with from day one,” said Julie Pennenga. “Their responsiveness and attention to detail have made a huge difference in keeping our project on track.”
The Wave Pool Company
Aquatic Development Group has been operating in the wave generation industry for more than 50 years. The company cites its WaveTek technology as a leading feature in more than 550 installations worldwide. ADG’s Chief Operating Officer Bruce Quay says that the new wave pool will enhance Florida surf offerings.
“We’re thrilled to deliver our deep-water stationary wave to Heroes Paradise, bringing surfing to Brandon, FL, and giving so many people the chance to catch a wave,” said Bruce. “We believe this attraction will complement the venue’s other offerings and provide a fresh, new experience that will thrill visitors of all ages.”
When Can You Go Surfing?
The standing wave pool will include a deck designed for spectator viewing. Plans indicate the wave will operate in hourly sessions, with separate slots designated for beginner, intermediate, and advanced surfers. Developers say the new feature will open by the end of 2025. Heroes Paradise will announce pricing for the surf venue shortly
