Inaugural Surf Stadium Cup crowns champs in Shizunami

Surf Stadium Japan hosted its first competition recently, crowning champions in two divisions. The Surf Stadium Cup ran several 35-minute heats throughout the day on Sunday, October 30th. At the end of the competition eight athletes took to the podium.

The contest wraps up following major events at wave pools in Texas, Switzerland and Korea. The WSL also announced this week the addition of pool locations for selected QS, LQS and JQS events.

Surf Stadium is located in Shizunami, a sheltered beach town with a vibrant surf scene. It’s close to the city of Shizuoka, but receives several visitors from Tokyo as well as Japanese surf meccas Chiba and Shonen, two-to-three hours away.
