New Jersey PerfectSwell wave pool to open October 8th

The PerfectSwell wave pool at Far Far A Bay has had a rough run. Originally slated to open November 27th at the American Dream mall in New Jersey, construction delays postponed the opening until Spring 2020. Then, the grand opening debuted with the arrival of COVID-19.

This week the official “in” to the wave pool Skudin Surf announced that surfing will officially commence October 8th (barring flying suacer invasion of earth or any other 2020-esque events.)

“Test sessions are going well and we turned up the volume a bit,” said Skudin Surf. “Thank you all for your patience, understanding and support the past few months. We are excited to be back on track.”

Sessions are available through “Private Dream Sessions” which is another term for renting out the pool at hourly intervals.

The sessions can host up to 20 surfers at a time and spit out between 120 and 180 waves. Surf can be customised for each session depending on what that particular group wants. SkudinSurf lists air sections, A-frames, barrels and beginner waves in both left and right as options. Waves can also be varied throughout the session so that you’re not stuck on “wedges” the whole hour.

Private Dream Sessions run between $1,800 to $2,100 per booking and come with a wave technician to dial in the session and includes coaches and lifeguards. The sessions are available from 7 am to 11 am and then at 9 and 10 pm.

If you have 12 people in your group it works out $150-$175 per surfer for the hour. 20 surfers in the same session run roughly $90-$110. Skudin Surf does not offer individual sessions at this time. All surfers must buy-in as part of a group. The hour-long pool rentals are open to all levels of surfing and surfboard rental is free.
