Palm Springs Surf Club kicks into high gear, adds $265 session
The revamped machine at Palm Springs Surf Club is up and firing on all cylinders and this week the crew announced the launch of their new Pro A-Frame setting – an enhanced version of their Advanced A-Frame.
“Our latest addition to the lineup is the Pro A-Frame, which has been rigorously tested and refined by our surf operations team,” said PSSC in a statement. “Surfers can expect a slab like drop, barrel sections, and the opportunity to do multiple turns before the end section.”
Waves are run at an 8-second interval, meaning surfers have the opportunity for more waves than in the Advanced A-Frames sessions. According to PSSC the Pro A-Frame session is strictly for experienced surfers, with a maximum capacity of 10 participants to ensure safety and a focused environment.
While many surf parks around the world focus resources and settings on the learner set, Cheyne and his team are stoking the fires of expert surfers in Southern California. This latest setting illustrates their commitment to those with high-level surfing capabilities.
The Palm Springs Surf Club opened with great fanfare January 1, 2024 only to suffer several technological setbacks followed by a series of openings and closures. During the closure the club remained open with access to the main restaurant, slides, lazy river and cabanas throughout the summer. WavePoolMag spoke with Cheyne Magnusson in October. You can check out our podcast with Cheyne (he speaks about the closure at roughly the 30-minute mark).
PSSC says surfers are encouraged to bring their own equipment, wetsuits, towels, and sunscreen, as November water temperatures are expected to be in the 60s Farenheit. Rentals for surfboards and wetsuits are available on-site. Those interested in joining must be over 42 inches tall and capable of swimming.
