SurfAid partners with Urbnsurf for next fundraising event
SurfAid is kicking off 2021 by partnering with Urbnsurf for the return of the SurfAid Cup. The Cup will be attended by many surfing legends including Layne Beachley and Josh Kerr.
Held this coming Friday April 16th, this is the first time the fundraising event will be hosted at Victoria’s Urbnsurf located just outside of Melbourne. The wave pool is guaranteed to provide perfect 3ft waves that bring nothing but stoke for 12-16 seconds each ride.
The teams have raised $55,000 to help fund SurfAid’s Mother and Child Health programs, with eight teams fundraising and competing in the Cup including iconic surf brands Mambo and RipCurl.
Each team of six will have the opportunity to take on Urbnsurf’s much sought after break, The Point, competing for the Surfing Champions title judged by Surfing Victoria. The highest fundraising teams will get priority in selecting of sides of the pool to surf.
“By surfing in the SurfAid Cup Urbnsurf you not only get the chance to surf in Australia’s best (and only) wave pool, but you can directly improve the health and livelihoods of people living in remote communities connected to us through surfing,” said Doug Lees, SurfAid CEO.
