The metrics of how much we like to watch ourselves and our friends surf are impressive. Flowstate announced this week that a staggering 4.5 million clips have been recorded through their technology. To reach this milestone, the AI video tech logged 89,202 sessions involving 26,474 surfers across the world’s wave pools.

Within that jaw-dropping metric, the top surf parks by clips captured are URBNSURF Melbourne (1.5 million), URBNSURF Sydney (1.1 million), and O2 Surftown MUC (1.1 million). In terms of sessions claimed URBNSURF Sydney leads with 39,004 sessions, followed by URBNSURF Melbourne with 28,178.

In their 2024 “wrapped” presentation, Flowstate also drilled down some unique data – they are nerds afterall so they thrive on this kind of stuff – from surfboards to top platform users.

Performance boards were the most popular style overall, accounting for 43.5% of rides, with JS Industries being the leading brand at 55.9%. Top surfers like drewburgers (URBNSURF Melbourne) held the lead in clip counts at 2664 waves with Sirsurfalot holding as the top Sydney surfer with 2298 waves.
