The Wave Bristol adds Flowstate AI video service
Flowstate has launched at The Wave in Bristol, installing several cameras at Europe’s longest-running surf park. The system, first developed in Melbourne at URBNSURF, offers surfers a way to capture, relive, and improve their sessions.
“Our award-winning AI technology now powers automated video capture, photography, coaching, and instant replay at one of the UK’s premier surfing destinations,” said Luke Wallace, CEO of Flowstate.
Flowstate said the system offers a suite of features at The Wave to enhance visitors’ surfing experience. Each surfing session is now automatically filmed and edited, with videos and photos delivered to participants just minutes after they finish.
CEO of The Wave Hazel Geary told WavePoolMag that an AI video system is something their customers have requested for quite some time.
“The Wave are delighted to be able to bring Flowstate’s video capture technology to our site in Bristol,” said Hazel. “We know that our surfers have been waiting for this opportunity to see their surf sessions through videos, and it will be a great tool to help them progress and refine their surfing.”
The platform also offers integrated coaching, allowing surfers to receive personalized video analysis and feedback from The Wave’s coaching team. This feature is designed to help surfers improve their skills based on their recorded sessions.
An instant replay option is also available, enabling surfers to view their sessions with friends in the café just 20 minutes after they finish. Additionally, Flowstate fosters community engagement through an Activity Feed, where users can follow friends, like and comment on their sessions, and stay updated on recent activities.
Surfers can also track their performance on The Wave Leaderboard, which displays weekly and all-time statistics for the most waves caught. To further enhance social sharing, Flowstate provides automated highlight packages that can be easily shared on social media in both portrait and landscape formats.
Luke of Flowstate added that the unique surfing conditions in England mesh well with a year-round wave pool.
“We’re excited to partner with The Wave to bring Flowstate to England’s premier surfing destination,” said Luke. “I’ve spent 5 years living in the UK and know how fickle the waves can be. When it’s on, it’s on! But when it’s not, it’s a long wait between waves. There’s an extremely passionate surf community based around The Wave and we’re super stoked to be a part of that and help drive progression to the next level.”
Here’s how to use Flowstate at The Wave. To get started, users must first create an account with Flowstate. Once registered, surfers can select their session from the available options. After the session, participants can easily find themselves in the footage and claim their videos and photos.
Users can then navigate to the “My Zone” section of the platform to watch all their recorded waves. Finally, surfers have the option to share their best moments on social media, allowing them to showcase their experiences with friends and followers.
Flowstate has camera systems at URBNSURF Melbourne, URBNSURF Sydney, Waco Surf, O2 SURFTOWN MUC, The Palm Springs Surf Club, Fireside Surf, and now, The Wave Bristol.
