Wave Pool Event Brings Surf Fans Closer to the Pros as Olympic Athletes Join Sessions

URBNSURF Sydney partnered with Boost Mobile to create an interactive surf experience at the Boost Mobile Super Sessions. The event gave surf fans a rare chance to share waves with Paris 2024 Olympic silver medalist Jack Robinson and Tokyo Olympian Sally Fitzgibbons.
The two sold-out sessions, Intermediate Turns and Advanced Turns, welcomed surfers of various skill levels. Participants paddled out with world-class athletes, gaining hands-on experience in a structured wave park setting.
A Unique Surfing Opportunity
“The idea behind this event was to tap into the unique nature of surf parks to create a truly immersive brand experience for fans,” said James Miles, Head of Partnerships at URBNSURF. “You can’t jump on the court with LeBron or rally with Nadal, but at Boost Mobile Super Sessions, you can paddle out and trade waves with Jack and Sally—it’s something truly special in our industry.”
This was the third collaboration between URBNSURF and Boost Mobile. Previously, they hosted Boost Mobile Air Jam and Boost Mobile Winter Jam. The event was a blending action sports, music, and entertainment. However, the Super Sessions went a step further. For the first time, fans and athletes shared the lineup together.

Boost Mobile’s Role in Surf Park Growth
According to Angus Johnson, Events Manager at URBNSURF, brand partnerships drive surf park events to new levels.
“Boost Mobile is always challenging us to push the limits and create more immersive experiences for surf fans. The best part is, they back our crazy ideas every time,” Johnson said. “They’re always up for bringing fresh energy and innovation to the lineup. The Boost Mobile Super Sessions were a perfect example of that—giving fans the kind of access and experience you just don’t get anywhere else.”
These partnerships allow for new and engaging experiences that connect athletes with the broader surf community, and by extension new clients.
An Event Beyond the Waves
More than 700 spectators lined the lagoon walls to watch the action. The event featured music from Red Bull DJs, giveaways, and appearances by professional Surf and Skate athletes.
It’s a new direction that wave pools can foster. Unlike traditional competitions, this event allowed a unique opportunity for surf fans to engage with professionals in a way that rarely happens elsewhere.
