Urbnsurf extends closure through May to meet COVID-19 guidelines

In line with new measures announced by the Australian and Victorian governments to ease coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions, Urbnsurf Melbourne will remain closed in May 2020.

While ocean surfing has been permitted, this is consistent with advice issued by the Victorian Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) this week that all public swimming pools, outdoor pools, and ocean baths remain closed under the new measures.

“However, we remain optimistic that as coronavirus restrictions are relaxed further in the coming weeks and months, we will be permitted to re-open sometime in Winter and have perfect waves pumping again in Tullamarine,” said Urbnsurf.

Urbnsurf added that since their closure has been extended, they’ve decided to do the annual Winter maintenance early.

“This will ensure that our lagoon and wave-generator are in top working condition, and to avoid a shutdown in August when these works were originally planned.”

The company says surfers can keep up-to-date with goings-on at Urbnsurf through their weekly mailers and on social media channels.

“Many thanks again for your continued support during this crisis, and we’re stoked that we’ll be able to welcome you back to surf more with your family and friends soon.”
