The Wave has officially announced plans to bring the largest Endless Surf installation to Europe. This project, valued at over £50 million, will transform approximately 100 acres within Lee Valley Regional Park into an inland surfing destination.
Nick Hounsfield‘s vision for a blue health desination has flourished in Bristol. And the company has had its sights on a London location for a few years now. If successful, London will become the first capital city in the world to host a surf park.
Building on the success of its Bristol facility, The Wave aims to create a space that caters to the city’s diverse population, strong sports culture, and high visitor numbers. The initiative is part of the company’s broader mission to make artificial wave pools more accessible while promoting the physical and mental health benefits of surfing.
The project will leverage Endless Surf’s wave pool technology, specifically designed to adapt to challenging site conditions. A public consultation is scheduled for March at Lee Valley Leisure Complex in Edmonton, in the London Borough of Enfield, ahead of the planning application submission later in the year.

London, one of the world’s most dynamic and influential cities, has long been a key target for The Wave. The company has worked closely with the Lee Valley Regional Park Authority to explore development opportunities on this underutilized land in Enfield.
“This site is in many ways a hidden oasis and we want to open it up for the community,” said Hazel Geary, CEO of The Wave. “As we did in Bristol, we will develop it in a way that increases biodiversity, enhances the green space and helps people access it. Endless Surf’s attractive organic shape, with uninterrupted views across the wave pool, and hidden wave generation technology, fits well with our design approach of working in harmony with nature.”
The London surf park is part of a broader expansion for Endless Surf, following the launch of its wave pool technology at o2 SURFTOWN MUC in Germany. Once completed, the London facility will be the largest Endless Surf installation in Europe, making it one of the best (and only at the moment) wave pools in London for both professionals and beginners.
“We are incredibly excited to work with the Endless Surf team on our next inland surf destination,” added Hazel. “Having watched the success of their first surf park launch in Munich, we can’t wait to deploy their innovative technology to bring perfect waves for all to North London. As a pioneer in the surf park sector, we have always chosen to be technology agnostic, as realise that different developments have different requirements and restraints. We partnered with Wavegarden to open the world’s first Wavegarden Cove in 2019 at our Bristol site, which has been a great commercial success. Now we are delighted to be working with Endless Surf, as the right tech partner for our London project..”

At the heart of the facility will be the ES48 wave generation system, featuring 48 pneumatic caissons capable of producing waves across multiple surf zones. This wave pool technology allows for customized wave heights, speeds, and formations, generating waves up to 26 seconds in duration. The system ensures a consistent surfing experience tailored to both beginners and experienced surfers.
Paul Chutter, President at Endless Surf, said London is a great place to showcase what their flagship model has to offer.
“We’re proud to work alongside The Wave to bring Endless Surf waves to the exciting global
metropolis that is London,” said Paul. “For us this partnership is the perfect fit. The Wave has already demonstrated its ability to create a thriving surf destination, and we’re thrilled to help create what will be a landmark project for the entire surf industry.”
If approved, the surf park will offer a year-round surf park experience within Greater London, providing both surfers and spectators with a new destination. The facility will provide an artificial wave pool tailored to different skill levels, making it a prime choice for those searching for a “wave pool near me” in London or looking for where to surf in London.
With the growing interest in wave pools, this new London surf park could become a central attraction for surfing in the UK, bringing world-class artificial waves to the city.
