DSRT Surf issues new renderings, opening date and call to investors

On the heels of DSRT surf’s approval by the local council, the company issued a marketing release this week extolling the virtues of the project, as well as new renderings and information.

DSRT Surf Resort is forecast to complete their wave pool in a two-and-a-half years time with their hotel and resort finishing in two years. The group is also actively seeking partners and investors. DSRT Surf is projecting a grand opening for 2023.

As a recap, DSRT Surf Resort is an 18-acre luxury resort destination in Palm Desert with a 5.5-acre Wavegarden Cove at its center. The project is set within the Desert Willow Golf Resort and will include residences and the usual surf park development surroundings.

Amenities include a boutique hotel, retail, a recovery center and spa, various restaurants on-site, exercise and yoga classes, a skate park, bike pump track and trails, pickleball as well as access to the two championship Desert Willow golf courses.

Architects Orange Coffman Engineers are designing the $200+ million project with The Altum Group handling civil engineering and Cloward H2O responsible for aquatics engineering.

“This combination has been a financial game-changer for both investors and the general population trying to get the absolute most out of a surfing destination and vacation,” said Jeffrey Allen Myers who provided WavePoolMag with the marketing material. “With its proximity to a large affluent surfing population, DSRT Surf Resort will be offering our visitors an easy escape from Southern California’s packed surfing lineups.”

Myers said they will potentially have two or three hours each day dedicated to villa owners and renters, as well as hours for SUPs, Kayakers, Bodysurfers and more. He added that the facility will host custom hours where patrons can choose from a menu of waves that best suit their group’s exact needs.

In addition to most of the approvals already in place, parent developer Desert Wave Ventures has also secured an agreement that encompasses approximately $36 million in public incentives. The DSRT Surf Resort is currently accepting what the communication referred to as “lead partners and strategic investors.”

The Cove system is a diamond-shaped pool with a customizable pier or footbridge running through the center. The top end of the pier houses the machinery that pushes out waves through a series of levers encased in modules. The levers swing in one direction to push out a wave on one side of the pool, then carry that inertia back to the other side of the module, pushing out a wave on the other side of the pool – which makes for an energy-efficient system. As the wave refracts and moves along the wall it gets further enhancement from the other modules.

Coves are operating in Bristol, Melbourne, The Alps, Korea and Brazil.
