Ace Buchan named surf and sustainability director at Aventuur

Aventuur announced this week that CT stalwart Adrian “Ace”’ Buchan has joined their growing team. Ace will fulfill the role of Director of Surf and Sustainability.

Ace’s position will oversee the sustainability aspects of upcoming Aventuur projects and help ensure their wave parks are in line with surfing’s environmental ethos. Aventuure currently has projects in Perth, Queensland, Northern NSW, New Zealand, Singapore and Fiji. The company is currently Wavegarden’s largest partner globally.

“Stoked to be working with Adrian Buchan and have him join the Aventuur team,” said Aventuur partner Nicholas Edelmen. “Ace is a true gentleman, intelligent, passionate about impact and a great athlete. We look forward to his insights influencing all of our projects and our company culture.”

Ace is familiar with wave pools.

Polished and well-spoken, the snappy goofyfoot spent 16 years on tour, taking CT victories at events in Tahiti and France and maintaining a Top 20 ranking throughout. Ace is ambassador gold, having provided a face and messaging for Hurley, JS, Hydroflask, WSL Pure and Nike. He’s also an active board member for Surfing Australia and Surfers for Climate.

“I saw this as a unique opportunity to spend some of my time combining my skills and passions,” said Ace. “Surf Parks won’t replace what the ocean means to me but I believe they have a unique and important role to play not only in creating exceptional surfing experiences and communities but as places that are genuine social assets and examples of sustainable development.”

Buchan added that he’s excited about the opportunities for Surf Therapy as the cornerstone of broader wellness programs within wave pools.

Recently Aventuur signed on Glenn Hall to further his Micro Surf Academy. Aventuur and MSA are now collaborating to deliver built-for-purpose training facilities at Aventuur’s projects around the world.
