Artful video tells us that Argentina is getting a new wave pool
Argentina company La Ola Group announced a new surf park that will utilize their “air-cannon” technology. The first wave pool will be located in Luján, 40 miles west of Buenos Aires.
In an artful promotional video set against Lujan’s famous neo-gothic Basilica, surfers are shown making the pilgrimage to the central area in front of the church. The group contributes sand and water to the location under the headline “El Sueno Se Hace Ralidad” or “The Dream Comes True.”
“The operating principle of our technology is based on the generation of waves by injecting water driven by the expansion of pressurized air,” said the company. “The waves travel through a specifically constructed pool with different depth changes that cause the waves to break.”
The company appeared on a segment for CNN South America last year and said they develop, design and build machines and pools that create great artificial waves for surfing at all levels. In the segment we see a construction site where a wave pool is being dug.
Joaquin Lozada (formerly with Waveseg) is credited on the company’s homepage as responsible for Research and Development. In the CNN clip he said the waves are ideal for learning and transforming the surf experience from ocean into a much more controlled environment that guarantees waves.
Pressurized Air
The operating principle of our technology is based on the generation of waves by injecting water driven by the expansion of pressurized air.
The waves travel through a specifically constructed pool with different depth changes that cause the breakers and the corresponding waves.
By precisely controlling all the variables in the process we achieve an immense variety of waves in sizes, shapes and styles adaptable to different levels of surfing.
Modular System
By varying the quantity or size of its modules, different products are obtained, resulting in different required investments, achieving a unique adaptability capacity in the market.
The company’s webpage says wave size, duration, frequency are all deteremined by the number and placement of compressors below the surface.
La Ola Group states that their system uses pre-existing industry standard inputs, so that the basic working pieces are readily available on the market. The macine is free of moving parts.
Our machine has no moving parts in the drive system, ensuring less wear and less maintenance.
