Boa Vista airs footage of new wave pool
We’ve received a few clips of wave testing at Boa Vista in São Paulo. All came through our Insta DMs with the disclaimer not to share. In addition, the test waves were done in a half-filled pool and were not that impressive. So we waited for impressive. And now we are celebrating the public release of Brazil’s latest wave tank courtesy of PerfectSwell ambassador Rob Kelly.
The Boa Vista Village project will cover 370 acres and include this giant Perfectswell wave pool which is double the size of the tank in Waco. Currently, the famous American Wave Machines facility in Waco offers 120-160 waves per hour for 8-10 second rides. While this new pool design looks slightly different the thought of longer barrels is hugely appealing.
This Sao Paulo development follows a trend in anchoring new projects around wave pools. Maybe slightly varying from the norm, the Boa Vista plans show a Surf Lodge (actually a multi-story, swanky looking hotel) for visitors making freshwater surf trips.
Boa Vista will also include residential land plots, golf residences and The Surf Lodge Residences, designed by renowned architects Sig Bargamin and Pablo Slemenson. Part of the Boa Vista Village offering to residents is an 18 hole golf course signed by Rees Jones and an impressive tennis structure and arena for international tournaments.
All that will come later. But for now, the wave pool is firing.
The Lowdown: This Sao Paulo development follows a trend in anchoring new projects around wave pools. Maybe slightly varying from the norm, the Boa Vista plans show a Surf Lodge (actually a multi-story, swank looking hotel) for visitors making freshwater surf trips. The interesting component here is the huge PerfectSwell technology from American Wave Machines. It looks to be twice the size of the AWM facility in Waco with 20-25 second rides. Boa Vista will offer surf to residents and visitors.
