EpicSurf awarded the Blooloop 2024 Innovation Award for Inclusion

EpicSurf has been awarded the Blooloop 2024 Innovation Award for Inclusion after their collaboration with Aqua Creek to develop the world’s first standing wave access lift. The company says the award underscores the growing global commitment to inclusivity in the surf industry.

EpicSurf said this accolade celebrates not only their work in making surfing accessible but also the collective drive to open the waves to everyone — a movement that is reshaping the future of the sport.

“For decades, surfing has symbolized connection and freedom, yet for many — especially those with limited mobility — this dream has remained out of reach,” said EpicSurf. “At EpicSurf, we’ve always believed that surfing should belong to everyone. Winning this award affirms that others share our vision and are invested in creating a future where the healing power of waves knows no bounds.”

Harmony Lesch, Business Development Specialist with Aqua Creek Products, is proud of the collaboration and glad to see the recognition.

“Aqua Creek is honored to have its partnership with ADG recognized by Blooloop’s Festival of Innovation in the Inclusion category,” said Harmony. “As experts in aquatic accessibility, we saw an opportunity to provide equipment which would allow the inland surf industry to be accessible to all. Collaborating with ADG’s EpicSurf has led to the creation of the first surf lift in the world.”

The surf market is rapidly expanding, with 1 out of 100 people willing to try surfing, according to industry reports. EpicSurf says this award highlights a turning point: the industry’s acknowledgment that accessibility isn’t just a feature — it’s a necessity.

“We are overjoyed by the recognition this award brings to the importance of inclusivity in surfing,” added EpicSurf. “It’s a validation of years of hard work, but more importantly, it’s a sign of progress. Together with partners, athletes, and advocates, we are fostering a community that prioritizes equity on the waves.

EpicSurf went on to say they are creating a new wave of opportunity with the collaboration as it breaks down barriers. With the system, EpicSurf says they are empowering people of all abilities to experience the thrill of riding a wave and finding their place in the surf community. This inclusiveness includes children and veterans as well as individuals with physical disabilities or sensory sensitivities.

Julie Kline, Director of Sales and Marketing for EpicSurf, emphasized the importance of this milestone.

“We embarked on this mission to make sure that everyone can have the opportunity to experience the joy of surf,” said Julie. “We are so grateful to Blooloop and the attractions industry for making a space to honor technology that breaks down barriers. This award fuels our passion, and we can’t wait to see this creation come to life and change the way people think about surfing.”

The Blooloop 2024 Innovation Award for Inclusivity represents a global acknowledgment of the importance of this mission who say they are committed to pushing boundaries, fostering collaboration, and driving innovation to ensure that no one is left on the shore. They take pride in being at the forefront of this movement and look forward to the industry’s growth in embracing a more diverse range of surfers in the coming years.
