Revel Surf eyes opening in late October or early November
Revel Surf Park, the hotly-anticipated Mesa Arizona wave pool, filled their wave pool this week and will be testing waves in the coming days.
“We’re working towards making waves over the next few weeks as we kick the wave maker (Huey) into motion!” the company said in an email statement. “We’ll be planing pre-opening release dates as we begin making waves… Here’s to making waves soon!”
Revel added that pre-opening membership details and pricing were now available online. In an interview with local paper The East Valley Tribune, Revel COO Adam Sak said the wave pool should be opening in late October or early November.
Revel Surf is a key feature of the 37-acre Cannon Beach mixed-use development, which began construction in March 2021 in Mesa Arizona near Power and Warner roads. Revel Surf includes a beach with sand reportedly sourced from Florida, a multi-story cliff diving platform, a skate and pump track, an athlete training area, and a restaurant and bar. The broader Cannon Beach development will also include restaurants, retail shops, a full gym, and office space.
The Lagoon by Swell Manufacturing offers a surfing experience in a lagoon environment, with surf sessions available for booking by the hour. Each session features a variety of wave types, allowing participants to ride between 12 and 15 waves per hour. The setup simulates an ocean surfing experience, including paddling out and catching both left and right waves.
SwellMFG utilizes a system of levers to generate waves in an A-Frame configuration, enabling surfers to split the peak rather than limiting sessions to only right or left waves, as is common in many wave pools.
The company states that its technology, when paired with proprietary software, can create a customizable “surf playlist” and is adaptable to facilities of various sizes, including smaller ones. For larger facilities, additional modules can be added to enhance wave generation. The system can also be integrated into existing pools to upgrade them for surfing. Wave heights can range from 2 to 6 feet, with the possibility of larger waves depending on energy output.
