SurfAid Cup returns to Urbnsurf wave pool for a second year

SurfAid announced today they will partner with Urbnsurf for the return of the SurfAid Cup in 2022. The event will raise vital funds to improve the health, wellbeing and resilience of people living in isolated regions.

The event will be held on Friday 25th March in Melbourne at Australia’s only public-facing surf-focused wave tank. Urbnsurf delivers a variety of Wavegarden settings, from simple Malibu waves to the famous Beast Mode. A full guide to Urbnsurf can be found here.

Registrations for the Cup are now open, where teams of six surfers will have the opportunity to take on one of the most sought-after waves in Australia, competing for the Surfing Champions title judged by Surfing Victoria.

SurfAid aims to raise $50,000 through the event to support families in remote parts of Indonesia and Solomon Islands. The support from the 2021 event helped to fund healthcare, clean water and food security programs that reached over 54,000 people.

“By surfing in the SurfAid Cup URBNSURF you not only get the chance to surf in Australia’s best (and only) wave pool, but you can directly improve the health and livelihoods of people living in remote communities connected to us through surfing,” said Doug Lees, SurfAid CEO.

Iconic surf brand Mambo is already confirmed to take part in the Cup. Teams can register their interest for the event at this link.
