Sneek peak at The Wave’s hidden Cove technology

The Wave Bristol released drone footage this week of their construction site. While the unmistakable silhouette of a Wavegarden Cove is clear, several key engineering pieces have been digitally blurred out.

“We are really excited to finally be able to give you a sneak peak of our lake construction, which has been very much shrouded in secrecy, due to confidentiality around the Wavegarden Cove technology,” The Wave said in posts to both LinkedIn and Facebook. “The construction team is working full steam ahead and all on track for opening our doors in the autumn. We will be filling the lake with water very soon and then things get really exciting!”

Beyond the blurred out concrete pieces the next thing we noticed is the massive scale of the project. We’re used to seeing the Wavegarden test facility, which is tiny compared to what’s happening in Bristol.

“It really is immense, five times larger than the Wavegarden demo facility and over twelve times the size of an lympic swimming pool.”

The Wave is offering early rider passes and bookings this month. Once completed, The Wave will be open 7 days per week all year round. They will offer beginner, intermediate and advanced surf sessions as well as surf lessons and courses.
