Wai Kai project steward moves to surf-focused development team

Beach Street Development (BSD) has expanded its leadership team with the appointment of Larry Caster as Chief Development Officer (CDO). Caster’s background in management, real estate development, and surf resort construction is expected to significantly contribute to Beach Street’s ongoing and future projects.

“The addition of Larry will allow our executive team to focus on all areas of the business and effectively manage the attention to detail required for projects of this magnitude,” said Doug Sheres, Beach Street’s founding partner.

In his new role, Caster will oversee projects including DSRT Surf in Palm Desert, California, and HTX Surf in Houston, Texas. He brings over 30 years of national and international development and management experience, notably contributing to Wai Kai, Hawaii’s first man-made surf destination, in collaboration with Beach Street Co-Founder, John Luff.

Caster previously served as the Director of Retail and Resort Development at Haseko Development, managing the 1,200-acre master-planned development in West Oahu. The Wai Kai project, part of this development, features the world’s largest deep-water standing wave and offers a range of water activities. It also includes dining and retail options catering to water enthusiasts.

“Larry was integral in bringing Wai Kai to life,” said John Luff. “His leadership and experience will be invaluable to our projects and will enhance Beach Street’s capacity to manage pre-construction through construction and handoff to our operations team efficiently.”

Beach Street provides a variety of services including market analysis, site selection, technology analysis, proforma development, design management, entitlements, financing, construction management, and operations.
