Tiny tubes hint at full-scale potential
Creators of the floating deploy-almost-anywhere circular wave system, Okahina Wave, aired more footage of their test model. In the video we see tiny barrels rolling out like spokes on a wheel at their facility in France.
The Okahina wave pool works like this: A floating atoll is deployed in the ocean, stagnant bays, lagoons and lakes. Wave generators revolve around a circular platform sending out surf that peels across its spiral-shaped reef. According to the makers, surfers can enjoy 30-seconds lefts or rights.
Okahina has a handful of projects in the works throughout France including the popular family attraction Futureoscope which will add an Okahina wave system to their park sometime this year.
